Here is ComIT 1.7, a Communication Integration Tool for Apple® Macintosh® computers. With ComIT you can monitor communication costs for on-line connect time and voice phone calls. You can use ComIT to dial your voice calls and monitor the duration and cost of the call.
ComIT supports Macintosh Plus and newer computers, including the Macintosh Quadra™, with at least 1MB of memory. ComIT is compatible with multiple monitors and large screen monitors.
ComIT requires System 6.0 or later. ComIT 1.7 is System 7.0 friendly, including Balloon Help, and it is 32-bit clean. It is also A/UX® 3.0 compatible but has not been fully tested under A/UX.
ComIT is a shareware program. If you like and use ComIT, please send your name and mailing address to the author along with the $20.00 (U.S.) shareware fee. Registered users of ComIT will receive a printed manual, support via online services, and future updates free or at reduced cost. There are many capabilities in ComIT that are documented in the manual. In fairness to those who register, unregistered users will not receive any support.
There have been several enhancements to ComIT since the last version. Complete descriptions of the changes are included in the manual addendums provided to registered users.
Distribution of the original, unmodified ComIT 1.7 software by users is encouraged as long as the Read Me file included with the "distribution version" of ComIT 1.7 is included unmodified and no payment (other than for online connect costs or for distribution media) is accepted for the actual software or documentation.

Configuring ComIT
You can start using ComIT right away. It comes pre-configured for CompuServe, Delphi, and GEnie. If you use other services or want to make configuration changes, use the Configure menu. From it you can add, delete, or modify service information (name, rates, rate periods, and Baud). You can have as many as 10 services or as few as none if you want to use ComIT for making phone calls only. You can also configure ComIT for your phone calls (rates, rate periods, dialing mode, etc.). And finally, you can configure ComIT for various logging methodologies, window position saving, and "ComIT <service>" file usage. "ComIT <service>" files enhance the operation of ComIT and are fully explained in the manual provided to registered users but are not necessary to use ComIT.
You can also configure ComIT for other information used when making phone calls. Use the Phone menu items: Create AreaCode#, Create Local#, and Create Directory to create lists of your in-state area codes, your local exchanges, and names/phone numbers you frequently call. ComIT allows up to 20 area codes, 1000 local exchanges, and 100 names/numbers.

Using ComIT
You select a service to update in one of three ways: 1) select it from the Service menu, 2) use the Command key equivalent for that service as shown in the menu, or 3) double-click on the service name in the Summary Screen. As you move the cursor around over the Summary Screen, notice that it changes from the familiar left-pointing arrow to a special ComIT cursor when on top of a service name. This means that you can double-click on that name to bring up the Update Service dialog with that service selected. A single click on a name will highlight the name, but no actions (other than Delete and Modify) can be performed on a selected name. Clicking elsewhere on the Summary Screen will deselect the name. When you select a service to update, an Update a Service dialog will appear with the selected service name in the title bar. Just fill in the edit fields as appropriate for that service session. The large box below the buttons is for entering some message text that you want logged along with the session information (if logging is enabled). You can type up to three lines of text or 255 characters, whichever comes first (ComIT will beep if you try to enter more). Click the Save button to save your entries and the data will be saved to a file. If logging is enabled, the data will also be written to a TAB-delimited TEXT file for use in other programs.
You can make phone calls in a similar manner. Enter the data or select it from the directory listing. Once a phone number is entered, you can click the Dial button to have ComIT dial the number and begin timing the call. While a call is being timed, you can enter message text or switch to another program if running under MultiFinder® or System 7. Call timing will continue if ComIT is in the background.
ComIT 1.7 will also allow you to receive and track incoming calls. If you have a modem connected, you can enable BUSY/RING detection in the Modify Phone dialog box and then select the "Receive a Call" menu item. When the modem rings, call timing will begin.
